The position of Canopy Guide is an hourly part-time or full-time seasonal position. Canopy Guides are responsible for a one-of-a-kind guest experience. Guides must have a positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills and be able to focus on safety. 

We are accepting applications for Managers, Guides, Customer Service Specialists, and Drivers with staff training starting in early May with additional training and onboarding before and after Memorial Day Weekend.

Site: ArborTrek offers a thrilling tree-based aerial adventure in beautiful Stowe, VT. This gorgeous site includes a top-notch canopy tour, treetop obstacle course, and climbing adventure area. The canopy tour includes 8 ziplines, 2 rappels, and 2 sky-bridges. The treetop obstacle course includes more than 80 unique elements, ranging from easy to extreme. The climbing area offers 14 diverse climbing challenges. The site operates May-October. ArborTrek is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The Guide Position

Summary of Essential Job Functions Include but Not Limited To:

             Provides excellent customer service to all guests

             Facilitate guests’ experience on tour and/or supervise guests’ trekking participation

             Ensures all course operations are conducted in accordance with safety standards

             Fits harnesses and helmets correctly and supervises the use of all personal safety equipment

             Clear communication with co-guide, outpost staff, and management in person and using radios 

             Conducts participant ground school and pre-screening

             Attends ongoing trainings and team meetings throughout the season

             Perform opening and closing duties

             Assists retail and ticket sales as needed

             Provide in-park guests transportation by van (if applicable)

             Perform technical rescues as needed 

             Ongoing assessment/management of risk in dynamic conditions 

             Inspect all personal protective equipment (PPE) prior to and after use 

             Properly inspects all course components and course gear

             Complete post-trip and all other appropriate paperwork 




             Must be 18 or older; Must be 21 to drive vehicles

             Risk management experience preferred

             Must pass initial training

             Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred

             Ability to communicate and work as an effective team member

             Ability to speak in front of large groups effectively

             Ability to work long hours and irregular shifts in a multi-task environment

             Must be able to pass background check

             Dependable, responsible, reliable, and able to take directions as needed

             Must have reliable transportation to and from site.

             Must have ability to perform work at height

             Must be able to perform all technical rescue associated with the park (training provided)

             This position may require walking and standing for long period of times in all weather conditions

             Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

             Must be able to climb a ladder



             Must have a flexible schedule with full availability on the weekends and all holidays.

             Season is May-October. Trainings take place April-May. Full season availability is preferred but not required.

Working in pairs, Zip Line Canopy Tour guides lead ArborTrek customers on 2-1/2- to 3-hour tours that feature zip lines, rappels, and sky bridges.  Guides are responsible for instructing and overseeing customer progression through the zip line canopy tour.  In addition to providing instruction and enforcing safety protocols, guides deliver commentary on the natural history and ecology of the area. The position requires working and movement at height along with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.


Adventure park monitors are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operation of the Treetop Obstacle Course and Climbing Adventure, a self-guided experience consisting of a series of elevated challenge obstacles including wobbly bridges, ropes swings, cargo nets, zip lines, and more designed to test customers’ agility, balance, and strength.  Monitors deliver instruction in the proper use of the equipment and oversee customer progression, providing coaching, instruction, and assistance as needed.  The position requires working at heights and strong interpersonal skills.


Customer service specialists are energetic, enthusiastic and demonstrate strong communications skills.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, greeting guests upon their arrival at the facility, checking customers in for their scheduled tours, taking reservations in person and over the phone, processing and posting tour photos, light clerical and retail functions, and sales and marketing tasks.  Depending on age and qualifications, occasional driving may be required.


Responsible for transporting customers and staff to and from the tour locations.  Drivers must be personable and have strong communication skills as they will be responsible for greeting guests and providing a short narrative during the drive.  A commitment to safety and clean driving record are a must. Duties include some maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle.


Course Builders are responsible for assisting in the design and installation of adventure park courses and zip lines, and, in some cases, subsequent maintenance, renovations, and upgrades to existing course structures.  Builders are expected to draw from a variety of fields of work including forestry, carpentry, climbing, rigging, metalworking, and surveying.  Interested applicants should submit a CV and, if available, challenge course portfolio.


Responsible for ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization’s principal functions including but not limited to: staff development, day-to-day, customer service, course maintenance, compliance and record keeping, staffing, scheduling, quality control, sales, marketing and risk management. Industry experience required.
